DIN 35255 certification
DIN 35255 is a German technical standard titled “Quality Requirements for Composite Processing” (Qualitätsanforderungen an Composite Processes).
The standard focuses on quality assurance during the development, manufacturing, inspection, maintenance, and repair of composite material products. It is therefore not primarily aimed at adhesive bonding as a standalone technology, but at the management and control of the entire composite process.
Certification according to DIN 35255 is intended in particular for:
- manufacturers of composite (FRP) components and structures
- companies involved in the repair and maintenance of composite components
- organizations in the aerospace, automotive, rail vehicle, marine, and wind energy industries
- organizations that must demonstrate control of “special processes” in accordance with ISO 9001
The standard is suitable for all companies that wish to systematically manage the quality of composite processes and reduce technological and legal risks.
DIN 35255 mainly defines:
- classification of composite components according to safety classes (C1–C4)
- requirements for personnel competence and responsibilities (supervision, operators)
- organization and management of composite processes
- demonstration of conformity between design loads and actual structural strength
- requirements for documentation, traceability, and change management
The standard emphasizes error prevention through controlled processes, rather than relying solely on final product inspection.
Benefits of certification:
- demonstration of mastery of composite processes according to the “state of the art”
- reduction of technological and safety risks
- fulfillment of customer and regulatory requirements
- systematic management of composite know-how
- enhanced company credibility in the market
